Pucci Stylist's 2012 Oscars Doo's and Don'ts

The Oscar Award show is always a night of glitz and glam. And who knows more about glitz and glam than the amazing stylists at Pucci Salon? Here is their feedback on the 2012 Oscar Doo's and Don'ts:

One of  our favorite looks this year, that seem to be popular among the stars, was the "Marilyn Monroe" look. Actresses such as Natalie Portman, Stacy Kiebler, Milla Jovovich, Penelope Cruz and Kelly Osbourne rocked that old hollywood glam with a classic gentle wavy look. And we loved it definite DOO in our book!

We enjoyed seeing the stars with the swept back, classic updo. Stars we loved with this look, would include: Guilana Rancic, Emma Stone, Meryl Streep,Sandra Bullock, and Shailene Woodley.

Now for our DONT'S. There were a few looks this year we could do without. Michelle Williams and Cameron Diaz went with a casual, messy look. We vote NO! This is one of the nights to get all dolled up. They both had gorgeous gowns on, and topped it off with an "un-done" style! No thanks ladies!

We also didnt like the sleek up-do with heavy bangs that Rose Byrne and Rooney Mara wore. Bangs are in this season, but we felt this just showcased how heavy they can be. Soften it up with some curls and layers ladies!

We feel JLo has over done her hairstyle! Come on JLO, give us something different!

We would have to say Best Hair and Overall Look goes to Gwenth Paltrow this year! We loved her clean look.Chic and Sleek! It was amazing, from head to toe!

Oscar Doo’s and Don’ts throughout the years

The 84th Academy Awards are right around the corner. And what better way to get ready for this star studded event than to re-cap some of the Doo’s and Don’ts from past years!

Hairstyle Doo’s

Demi Moore, 2010 – Demi transformed a simple, traditional style into something sleek and sexy.

Natalie Portman, 2009 – Natalie’s beautiful up-do not only made her look like Oscar royalty, but revealed her award winning cheek bones as well!

Angelina Jolie, 2009 – Sporting a gorgeous half-up style, Angie stole the show at the 2009 Academy Awards.

Kate Hudson, 2003 – Hudson has always been adorable, and she didn’t fail to impress at the 2003 Oscars with her golden locks in a soft chignon.

Hairstyle Don’ts

Scarlett Johansson, 2005 – Scarlett showed the world what a frizzy, frizzy princess looks like!

Geena Davis, 2009 – It’s hard to look past the puffy wedding dress-like gown to notice Geena’s messy bangs and even more disturbing bun, but when your eyes do finally get there, you start wishing  you would have stopped at the dress.

Helena Bonham Carter, 2006 – We don’t know what’s worse, the spikey bangs or the lopsided bouffant..  Such a shame, she has beautiful bone structure that was not done any justice by this "Don't".

Laura Linney, 2005 – Eek, looks like Laura was running late to the 2005 Oscars and forgot to blow dry the top of her head!

Stop by Pucci Salon before getting ready for your big Oscar party this year and we’ll give you a DOO to remember!

Almond, Honey, Milk and Aloe Mask

The news is in, at 7:25 this morning groundhog Phil saw his shadow. Which means… tun tun tun… six more weeks of winter.

Just when we thought this dry winter spell was almost over the groundhog had to go and ruin it for us! Don’t fret, we have a solution! We understand that with cold, dry weather comes dry, itchy skin, and we’re here to help.

We have an awesome at home face mask recipe that was specially designed by Margo Marrone, owner of Organic Pharmacy in London, to cure all of your dry skin woes.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 teaspoon of organic powdered milk
1 tablespoon of organic ground almonds
1 tablespoon of organic honey
1 teaspoon of organic aloe vera gel
2 drops of neroli essential oil

Preparation:

In a small bowl, mix the powdered milk with the ground almonds, then add the honey and aloe vera. Once everything is mixed together add the two drops of neroli essential oil. Now your facemask is ready to use!

*This mixture makes two to three treatments and will last up to two weeks if stored in the refrigerator.

Application:

Apply the mixture to your face and leave on for 10 to 15 minutes to achieve optimum hydrating effects.
